What to Bring When Visiting Australia Zoo

What to Bring When Visiting Australia Zoo

  1. Hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. The Queensland sun can be quite fierce, even during winter. Remember to bring a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen.
  2. Rain Poncho. Queensland weather can often be unpredictable so it is advisable to bring a poncho or rain jacket to the Zoo, even if it's sunny.
  3. Water. A day at the Zoo can be very thirsty work, so make sure that you bring a water bottle with you. There are water fountains around the Zoo so that you can refill your bottle. We also sell bottled water at our foodcourt, kiosks, diner and beverage stands throughout the grounds.
  4. Snacks/Food. Feel free to bring your own snacks or food for lunch. There are plenty of nice shady areas around the Zoo to enjoy a picnic lunch, so bring a blanket and enjoy the beautiful surroundings or take a seat in the Feeding Frenzy food court.
  5. Camera. There will be plenty of fantastic photo opportunities during your visit to Australia Zoo, so make sure you bring your camera. Don't forget to also bring extra film/memory cards and batteries so that you don't miss out on anything!
  6. Comfortable clothes and shoes. Australia Zoo is currently set on 70 acres so ensure that you wear comfortable clothes and sensible shoes, as there will be plenty of walking involved! You may also want to bring a jumper as the afternoons can get quite cool, especially during the winter months.
  7. Watch. There are stacks of wildlife shows and hand-feeding opportunities on throughout the day, so bring a watch so you can get there on time!
  8. Cash. Even though we have ATMs and EFTPOS facilities, it is still advisable to bring some cash with you. The kiosks and Dingo Diner only accept cash, as does the Kids Zoo, where you can purchase animal food.

What NOT to Bring When Visiting Australia Zoo

  1. Domestic Animals. Australia Zoo does not allow domestic animals onto its premises, so please ensure that you leave your pets at home.
  2. Alcohol. Australia Zoo is an alcohol-free zone, so please do not bring any alcohol into the Zoo.
  3. Your own animal food. Please feed our wildlife the correct food and do not bring your own food. Animal food is available from the Kids Zoo and Kids Shop.

We hope that you enjoy your day at Australia Zoo!

Mean rainfall (mm) The arithmetically averaged total amount of precipitation recorded during a calendar month or year. Both mean and median (decile 5) rainfall are included in these statistics, although from the meteorological point of view the median is usually the preferred measure of 'average' or 'typical' rainfall. This is because of the high variability of daily rainfall - one extreme rainfall event (such as a slowly moving, severe thunderstorm) will have less affect on the median than it will have on the arithmetic mean. 235.6 306.2 225.1 191.9 167.8 83.0 96.8 53.1 50.8 101.1 150.5 171.1
